In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day delivery of People Operations, ensuring a seamless and positive employee experience throughout the entire employee lifecycle. Acting as a key point of contact for employees and managers, you will manage a broad range of HR activities, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, performance management, and compliance. You will work closely with leadership, Finance, Operations, and internal and external partners to translate people strategies into effective operational practices. You will also contribute to improving HR processes, strengthening employee engagement, and maintaining consistent policies and procedures. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of essential people-focused operations within a growing, mission-driven organization. The position is fully remote and open to candidates across Canada, with occasional in-person collaboration and event attendance.

Accountabilities:

- Employee Relations & Employee Lifecycle

- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding day-to-day People Operations matters.

- Manage employee relations issues, including documentation, resolution, follow-ups, and support for investigations, escalating complex or high-risk cases when necessary.

- Advise managers on applying internal policies, addressing performance and conduct concerns, and navigating established HR processes.

- Coordinate leaves of absence, workplace accommodations, return-to-work arrangements, resignations, terminations, and offboarding activities.

- Talent Acquisition, Recruitment & Onboarding

- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including job descriptions, job postings, sourcing, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks, offers, and hiring administration.

- Partner with hiring managers to ensure recruitment processes are timely, consistent, and equitable.

- Prepare employment offers and contracts and manage routine negotiations within approved compensation and contractual guidelines.

- Coordinate onboarding activities, including employment documentation, payroll and benefits enrollment, system access, orientation, and manager follow-ups.

- Manage new-hire check-ins, probationary milestones, and employee integration processes.

- People Programs & Employee Experience

- Coordinate annual performance reviews, interim performance check-ins, and related employee and manager processes.

- Manage communications, deadlines, documentation, reminders, and completion tracking for performance management activities.

- Support employee engagement, recognition, workplace culture, belonging, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

- Administer employee surveys and pulse checks, coordinating communications and follow-up activities.

- Organize the operational delivery of organization-wide People initiatives, including the annual team offsite.

- Payroll, Benefits & HR Systems

- Coordinate payroll inputs, employee changes, and updates in collaboration with the Finance team.

- Administer employee benefits and RRSP programs, including enrollment, changes, employee inquiries, and vendor coordination.

- Manage day-to-day HRIS administration, including employee records, data updates, workflows, permissions, and routine reporting.

- Maintain accurate and complete employee documentation and confidential People records.

- Resolve payroll, benefits, HRIS, and employee-data issues while identifying opportunities to improve systems and workflows.

- Policies, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

- Support the consistent application of employment policies, procedures, and organizational practices.

- Maintain employment documentation, compliance records, deadlines, and required administrative processes.

- Coordinate mandatory training, including employee enrollment, tracking, reminders, renewals, and record keeping.

- Identify and escalate compliance concerns, policy gaps, recurring issues, and operational risks.

- Recommend and implement practical improvements to strengthen the efficiency, consistency, and quality of People Operations.

Requirements:

- 4โ€“6 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, HR generalist functions, or People Operations, with exposure to employee relations, recruitment, and HR administration.

- Experience managing or supporting People Operations within an organization or team of approximately 50 employees.

- Strong practical knowledge of employment legislation, HR compliance requirements, and employee and manager support.

- Proven experience managing end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, leaves and accommodations, performance management, and offboarding.

- Hands-on experience with payroll administration inputs, employee benefits, RRSP programs, HRIS platforms, employee records, and HR reporting.

- Familiarity with AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies, with the ability to leverage them to improve efficiency, decision-making, and employee experience while maintaining appropriate standards of privacy, accuracy, and responsible use.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain HR policies and processes clearly, positively, and respectfully.

- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver time-sensitive tasks reliably.

- Sound judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence when handling confidential information and sensitive employee matters.

- A solutions-oriented and adaptable mindset, with the ability to work independently, improve processes, and navigate an evolving organizational environment.

- Growth-oriented and entrepreneurial approach, with enthusiasm for contributing to a mission-driven organization.

- HR-related education or professional certification is considered an asset.

- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English is required. French proficiency is considered a strong asset.

- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application. Employment sponsorship and work permit application support are not available.

Benefits:

- Competitive salary: Annual compensation ranging from CAD $70,000 to $80,000.

- Full-time employment opportunity.

- 100% remote-first working arrangement, open to candidates across Canada.

- Opportunity for occasional in-person collaboration, particularly for candidates based in the Toronto area.

- Meaningful opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization focused on developing Canada's next generation of entrepreneurial talent.

- Collaborative and evolving working environment that encourages innovation, curiosity, and continuous learning.

- Opportunity to take ownership of key HR processes and contribute to organizational development.

- Exposure to AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies within People Operations.
