Job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer based in Canada.
As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and scalability of modern software solutions within a dynamic, agile technology environment. You will collaborate closely with software engineers and cross-functional teams to strengthen quality practices and drive test automation excellence. Your mission will be to design and implement robust testing frameworks, improve test coverage, and integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines. You will also act as a trusted quality advocate, mentoring colleagues and promoting best practices across the engineering organization. Working on critical delivery network back-office tools, you will help ensure that software releases meet high standards of performance, stability, and reliability. This is an opportunity to combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership and continuous improvement in a collaborative, international environment.
Accountabilities:
- Improve testing processes, automation strategies, and quality standards within an agile development environment.
- Coach and mentor team members, promoting best practices in software testing, automation, and quality engineering.
- Review peers' code and provide technical guidance, particularly to more junior engineers.
- Act as the team's trusted authority on Quality Assurance and test automation, providing evidence-based recommendations on release readiness.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust automated tests that meet the same reliability standards as production code.
- Ensure appropriate test coverage across functional and non-functional requirements, identifying potential risks and quality gaps.
- Configure and optimize CI/CD pipelines to integrate automated testing effectively, balancing test coverage, execution speed, and release confidence.
- Champion quality engineering practices and encourage a shared commitment to software excellence across teams.
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot issues, configure testing environments, investigate databases, and build scalable automation frameworks.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience as a Quality Engineer, QA Automation Engineer, or in a similar software testing role.
- Strong hands-on expertise in automated testing, including tools such as Cypress.io and established test automation design patterns.
- Experience designing and developing automation frameworks suited to continuous delivery environments.
- Proven ability to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to maintain software quality throughout the development lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, web services, HTTP protocols, and API testing. Familiarity with Postman or Pact is an advantage.
- Experience working in collaborative, agile software development teams alongside software engineers.
- Ability to configure test environments, investigate databases, troubleshoot technical issues, and build reliable automated testing solutions.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills, with the ability to influence quality practices and support less experienced colleagues.
- A proactive, adaptable, and analytical mindset, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making.
The following technical skills are considered an advantage:
- Familiarity with Java 17+ and React.js 18.
- Experience with code quality platforms such as SonarQube.
- Knowledge of load and performance testing tools such as Artillery.
- Familiarity with test management platforms such as Zephyr Scale/TM4J.
- Exposure to cloud environments, particularly AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Understanding of asynchronous messaging systems and event-driven architectures, including Amazon SNS/SQS and Apache Kafka.
