You will encourage positive behavioural change through practical education, guided discussions, and supportive interactions. Working with people from diverse backgrounds, you will create a respectful learning environment while confidently managing challenging conversations and group dynamics. The role also involves individual screenings, follow-up sessions, and coordination of participant activities. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to community safety and individual well-being.
Accountabilities:

- Help participants develop awareness, practical strategies, and healthier behaviours that support positive and lasting change.
- Create a respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for individuals from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
- Engage participants with empathy and professionalism, including those who may be reluctant to participate.
- Navigate challenging conversations, resistance, and group dynamics while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Conduct individual client screenings and follow-up sessions as required, assessing participant needs and supporting progress.
- Coordinate participant communications, scheduling, and other program-related requirements.
- Deliver standardized program materials consistently while encouraging active participation, discussion, and reflection.
- Maintain an organized and independent approach to workshop delivery and related administrative responsibilities.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of professional experience supporting individuals experiencing addiction, substance use challenges, or mental health concerns.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating structured workshops, educational sessions, group programs, or similar activities.
- Full professional fluency in spoken and written English and French, with the ability to independently facilitate sessions in both languages.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to manage sensitive or challenging conversations with empathy and patience.
- Ability to establish and maintain firm, appropriate professional boundaries.
- Confidence managing group dynamics and engaging participants who may be hesitant or resistant.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends, with flexibility to accommodate fluctuating weekly hours based on program demand.
- Must reside in Ontario.
- Proficiency with virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
- Access to a personal computer and phone for remote work.
- Ability to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC), which is a requirement for the position.
Benefits:
- Compensation: CAD $44 per hour.
- Flexible, part-time schedule: Approximately 20โ30 hours per week, depending on program demand.
- Remote work: 100% remote within Ontario.
- Contract duration: Initial 3-month contract, with strong potential for extension.
- Comprehensive onboarding: Approximately 16 hours of virtual training.
- Access to facilitator resources, mentorship, and shadowing opportunities to support preparation and ongoing development.
- Meaningful work supporting individuals in making safer decisions and achieving positive behavioural change.
- Opportunity to contribute to an important community-focused program.
